Baby’s First Teeth & Teething Symptoms

ADC-toothbrushI'm not going to lie...for a few weeks I think E and I were both worried about Grayson's teeth because he didn't have any yet! A lot of our friends had their first child around the time we did and most of them have already told us stories about their child's first teeth! To make things worse, a few friends had YOUNGER kids than us, and they already got their first teeth before Gray!  According to numerous articles and reports, a child's first teething milestone can come anywhere from 3 months to almost a YEAR so we weren't sweating it too much.

Finally, the BIG MOMENT came about a month ago! Little ‘white nubbs’ appeared out ofBaby-Toothbrush-Made-of-Silicone-Suitable-for-0-to-2-Year-Old-FDA-Marked the bottom of his gums in the front of his mouth! It was the greatest feeling in the world! Grayson now has his bottom chompers coming in at full force and he’s got his top two teeth already broken through the gums!  I assure you…they are here and they work. I was the hot-mess this morning while my wife was in the shower and I put my finger in his mouth to see if he really did have some ‘bite’ in him.   Let me assure you, he does! It hurt to the point that I wanted to hit myself for believing otherwise.

There obviously is NO downside to this wonderful life event but it does lead to an eardible baby at times and that can lead to fussy parents!

  • Drooling (which can lead to a facial rash)
  • Gum swelling and sensitivity
  • Irritability or fussiness
  • Biting behavior
  • Refusing food
  • Sleep problems

Are just some of the symptoms your baby will experience (and you as parents will experience) as their teeth are coming in! As far as caring for your son/daughter’s teeth, that’s  another animal! Erica has a mini rubber toothbrush  from that she puts on her index finger to brush Grayson’s teeth! It’s too cute!
